I watched as Toya went inside her purse to pay for her meal, but I quickly reached in my back pocket and searched through my money that I had wrapped around a rubber band and tried to find the smallest bill I had. Finally, I came across a fifty-dollar bill and I gave it to the cashier.
“Here, take it out of this,” I said.
Toya turned around and looked at me as my tall frame stood over her effortlessly. I wanted so badly to wrap my arms around her tiny ass waist, place her ass on the print of my dick, and just hold her there. But I knew without a doubt that she would probably slap the shit out of my ass for trying her like that.
“Do I look like I need you to pay for my food?” she asked me, frowning up her beautiful face.
“No, in fact, you look like you could buy every motha fucka in here dinner, but let me do something nice for you,” I said.
Instead, of us having a debate in the middle of the restaurant, she obliged and let me pay for her dinner. I handed the cashier the money and she held it up to make sure it was legit. Seconds later, she handed me my change back. For the two times that I’ve been around Toya, she straight played my ass and was mean as hell to a nigga, but I could actually look at her right now and tell that she was mean for a reason. I could tell that something was bothering her and I wanted to know her story. I wanted to know the cause of her attitude. I wanted to meet the niggas that shitted on her, so I could personally thank them for sending her fine ass my way.
“What’s wrong with you?” I asked her once we stepped to the side and waited for her food to be ready.
“What makes you think that something is wrong with me? And even it was something, why would I tell you?” she asked, folding her arms across her chest and looking me dead in the eyes. Those grey eyes were going to be my weakness. Eyes like that, she was going to fuck around and get anything she wanted from me.
“Damn, you tough, but I’m not your enemy, lil mama, so you ain’t gotta be so mean to a nigga,” I said to her.
She let out a sigh and turned back around, standing directly in front of me, and we waited in silence until they called her to get her food. They had already called me moments before her, but I just wanted to make sure she made it back to the car safely because those thirsty ass niggas were still standing out front. When I think about it, shit, I was coming off thirsty too because lil mama has made it clear to me that she wasn’t fuckin’ with me like that, and I was still trying to pursue her. I held both our bags in my hands and let her walk in front of me as we headed for the entrance. When we made it to the door, I reached over her and opened the door for her to walk out. As soon as we stepped foot outside, all eyes were on us.
“Damn, Dre, that’s you, nigga?” my lil nigga Pete asked me, referring to Toya.
Her back was turned to me so I flashed a big ass smile, showcasing a mouth full of golds and nodded my head yes.
“Lil mama bad as hell, but she got an attitude on her,” another nigga yelled.
I nodded. “That’s for me to worry about, not you lil niggas. Besides, y’all wouldn’t know what the fuck to do with someone of her caliber anyway,” I said, talking shit as usual.
Toya turned around and shot me a nasty glare and I chuckled at her mean ass. We made it to her red jeep and I had to admit, that shit was beautiful as hell, just like it’s owner. I set the bags on top of her car, pulled up my Nike sweats and licked my lips.
“Next time you want something from here, call a nigga. It ain’t safe over here, especially at this time of night,” I told her, dead ass serious.
“I grew up over here, so I know what I’m getting myself into by coming over here. Can you give me my food so I can go? I had a long day and I’m ready to go home,” she said, standing beside the driver’s door with her hand out.
“Open the door and I’ll give it to you.”
I looked down at her and she turned to open the door. When she stepped up, I placed my hands on the small of her back and helped her up. Once she was seated, I handed her the food. She looked at me for a while before responding.
“Oh yeah, and I called you earlier today,” she said, catching me off guard.
“I knew it was going to be sooner or later that you decided that you wanted to fuck with a real nigga. So what’s up? What you called me for?” I asked, stepping closer to her and placing my hands on the top of her car door.
“Don’t flatter yourself. I only called you because I need you to sign some paperwork. Nothing more, nothing less,” she said with a smirk on her face.
“Hey, Dre,” I heard someone say.
I looked up and it was this bitch Tamia that I used to fuck with a long time ago. Tamia was a pretty girl, standing about 5’6”, rich chocolate skin, and a nice Coke bottle shape. She kept her hair styled in a cute jet black bob and she could suck the skin off of a nigga’s dick. I hadn’t seen her ass since I’ve been back from jail, and I honestly had forgotten all about her ass until now. Tamia was a messy ass bitch, so I was trying my best to block her from seeing Toya, but she still was trying her best to see who I was talking to.
I nodded my head at her and focused my attention back on Toya. “What you doing tomorrow? I probably can ride over to your office tomorrow and handle that,” I let her know.
“Tomorrow won’t work. I have houses to show. What about Monday?” she asked me. I could look at her face and tell that she was tired as hell.
Damn, I wish that she was my woman because I would make sure nights like this when she came home from work exhausted, that I had a nice hot bath running for her. I would give her a full body massage and fuck the shit out of her, sending her to sleep with her thumb in her mouth, sleeping like a new born baby. Our time was coming, and when it did, I was going to make sure I didn’t show her lil ass no mercy and make sure she knows that I’m running shit.
“Alright, I’ll slide over there Monday then. Text the address to your office when you get a chance. I’ma let you go now, even though I wish you was coming home with a nigga,” I said, joking but low key I was dead ass serious. I was a nigga, so yes I wanted to fuck, but I also wanted more. I wanted Toya in general. She looked like she could humble my ass, and at the rate I was going, I needed some humbling.
“Goodnight Diandre. I’m sure lil mama that just spoke to you and damn near broke her neck to see how I look wouldn’t mind going home with you,” she said.
I smiled. “Let me find out you’re jealous,” I said, cockily.
“I can’t be jealous over something that’s not mine to begin with,” she shot back.
“Yeah, you jealous, but it’s all good, though. I’m going to call your ass this weekend, answer the phone too. All a nigga trying to do is to get to know you better, you’ll get to sample the dick later,” I teased.
“Close my damn door, Diandre,” she snapped.
I chuckled and stepped aside so that I could close her door. I watched as she backed out of the parking space, and I stood there and watched her drive off until her car disappeared. Lil mama was the truth, and she was most definitely winning. I couldn’t wait to put her on my team.
Chapter 5: Charlie
“Are you serious? And she’s not going to be in for the rest of the day?” I asked, standing in the bathroom mirror at Jaquan’s place, talking to the receptionist at the hair salon that I went to.
I went to my Dominican stylist, Linda, faithfully every Saturday morning, but when I just called to let the salon know I was coming in, they told me that Linda wouldn’t be coming in today because she was sick. I knew I had to have some sort of sympathy for her, but damn, who the fuck was going to do my hair? I didn’t trust no other stylist playing around in my hair, and I hated to switch up.
“Alright, well have her call me whenever she comes back,” I said and hung up the phone.
I blew out a sigh of frustration and walked back into of the bedroom, where Jaquan was sitting up eating a big bowl of frosted flakes cereal. I honestly don’t even know what time he came home last night, better yet this
morning because I was knocked out. I didn’t even get a chance to go to the room and talk to Monae because I didn’t get back home until eleven that night, and once I took my shower, I went straight to bed.
“What’s wrong with you?” Jaquan asked me.
“I was about to go get my hair done, but the lady who normally does it isn’t coming in today,” I said, flopping down on the bed.
“I know some people. Matter of fact, it’s this girl, her name Ma’kai. I think Monae go to her every once in a while. Damn, what’s her Instagram name?” Jaquan asked more to himself as he scrolled through his Instagram followers and then eventually he came across her page.
He handed me the phone and I had to admit that she had talent. From the looks of things, she was a beast at making sure she had your hair bone straight, so I was impressed. I was going to call her to see if she had any openings for this morning.
“She got her number on her page, so I’m about to call her and see if she can do my hair this morning. Oh wait, let me see if Monae wants to go with me,” I said and then hopped out of the bed. A thought quickly came to my mind and I turned around and faced Jaquan.
“You fucked her before?” I asked, dead ass serious. I had to ask his ass shit like this because I know how he gets down.
“What? Really, Charlie, gone with that bullshit now,” he said but never answered my question.
“Answer the question. It’s real fuckin’ simple. I’m not even trying to argue with you, nor am I going to get mad if you say yes. So, did you ever fuck the bitch?” I asked with my hands on my hips.
“Charlie, nah I never fucked her. Gone now with all that bullshit,” he said.
I nodded my head. “Alright, I’m taking your word,” I said and then I turned and was out of the door.
I walked down the hall to Monae’s room and knocked two times. She didn’t answer it or tell me that it was okay to come in, so I took it upon myself to let myself in. I walked in the room and Monae was lying on her stomach with the blanket covering up her whole body. I took a seat on the edge of the bed and gently shook her. She groaned and I pulled the cover from over her head.
“Charlie, gone! I’m trying to sleep, shit!” she fussed.
I laughed. “Bitch, I’m just trying to see if you wanted to come with me to the hair salon. I’m about to go to this girl your brother referred me to and he said you been to her a few times. Come on, Monae, I don’t want to go by myself,” I whined, slapping her on her thigh.
“No, I ain’t going. I’m going through something right now,” Monae said.
I tried my best not to laugh at her dumb ass. “And what the hell are you going through?” I asked her, dying to know her response.
“Suffering from a broken heart,” she said and I had to laugh at her dramatic ass. It wasn’t until I heard her sniff that I realized that she was crying and that she was dead ass serious. I climbed into bed with her and she burst out crying on my shoulder.
“I’m so fuckin’ mad at my brother right now, Charlie. Because of him, Quay left me and he’s going to find him a new girlfriend. He won’t even answer the phone or reply to my text messages. I don’t know what to do,” she cried. I held her and let her vent.
“Monae, calm down. First off, if that nigga loved you like he said he do then he’ll come around. You can’t just cut somebody off that quick that you claimed you loved because of one mistake. Love don’t work like that. If Quay loves you, he’ll come around. Right now, he’s going through some shit too, so you have to give him time to cool off. And you don’t need to be in here crying all damn day and calling that man every five minutes because all you’re doing is pissing him off even more. So, get your ass up, take a shower and get dressed so you can come with me to get our hair done,” I said.
She nodded her head.
I raised up from off the bed and went to go check on my baby. She was lying on the bed watching her usual Saturday morning cartoons.
“Hey, Mommy,” China said.
I walked over to her and sat down on her bed. She climbed into my lap and wrapped her tiny arms around my neck then kissed my cheek.
“What you want, China, because I normally have to beg you to give me kisses,” I said, laughing at her.
“I don’t want anything, Mommy, just some oatmeal for breakfast,” she said.
I nodded and made my way downstairs to make my daughter breakfast. Jaquan’s phone was still in my hands, so I went back on Ma’kai’s page, got her number and called her. I used my right hand to hold the phone to my ear and my free one to look for the pot so that I could start the oatmeal. Finally, after damn near five rings, a loud ghetto voice came through the phone.
“Yeah?” the female voice answered.
Number one, that was unprofessional as fuck. Clearly, if you do hair for a living, there is going to be numerous amounts of people calling your phone throughout the day trying to schedule an appointment with your dumb ass! She could easily lose a customer that quick because they would feel like she was rude. Her ass better be lucky I needed my hair done, or else I would have hung up this damn phone.
“I found your Instagram page and I wanted to know if you had anything available today for my friend and me,” I told her.
“Umm, hold on, let me look,” she said.
I could hear shuffling around in her background. About three minutes later, she came back to the phone.
“Y’all can come at 12,” she said.
“Alright,” I said and ended the phone call.
I don’t know why, but I had a funny feeling that today wasn’t going to end well. For starters, the bitch was rude, and she didn’t want to see how rude I could get. I never really understood these new hair stylists nowadays. They talked to the customers with a fuckin’ attitude like they were doing our hair for free or some shit. Bitch, you getting paid, so be happy.
12:05 P.M
I walked in the salon five minutes late because I had to drop my baby over at my mom’s house. Ma’kai’s salon was located in the city of Miami and when we stepped out of my car, a bunch of bitches and niggas were sitting in front of the salon. I could feel the hateful glares from the bitches as Monae and I walked passed them. Right now, I had on a pair of army fatigue shorts from True Religion with a green tank top to match. My gold thong sandals showed off my pretty feet and a matching True Religion hat adorned my head because my hair wasn’t done. Under the hat, my natural hair was in a long ponytail, which swung from left to right with each step that I took. I didn’t have my purse with me; I had left it in the trunk of my car, but I did have cash in my pockets. We walked into the salon and it wasn’t very packed for it to be a Saturday afternoon.
“That’s Ma’kai right there,” Monae said, pointing her out.
I gave credit when credit was due, and Ma’kai was beautiful. She was caramel complexion, standing at about 5’4”, slim, but she had a big booty. I don’t know if it was her’s or what, but it looked good on her. I normally wasn’t a fan of lace fronts, but I loved her jet black, bone straight lace front that she had on. With all that prettiness, you could look at the bitch and tell she had a bad ass attitude. She was obviously big headed from the 30k followers she had on Instagram because of the simple fact that she could do hair, and she thought her shit didn’t stink. It’s cool though because I wasn’t here for conversation. I just needed my hair done, and after this, she didn’t have to ever worry about me contacting her again.
“Ma’kai, we here for the 12 o’clock appointment” Monae said.
“Okay, who going to go first?” she asked, and I went ahead and went first.
An hour later, after getting my hair washed, sitting up under the dryer for a deep conditioner, washed again and then sitting under the dryer once more, I was now sitting in Ma’kai’s chair about to get my hair flat ironed. She had the chair facing the mirror and she stood directly behind me, trying to make my part down the middle very straight. I watched her through the mirror and it looked like she was thinking about somethi
ng. I already had my guard up and I was waiting for her to go ahead and say whatever it was that she had to say.
“I can’t put a finger on it, but you look so damn familiar,” she said to me.
“I don’t know where you would know me from because this my first time ever hearing of you. You got kids or anything because I have a children’s clothing store in the mall, so you probably saw me there,” I said.
She knew exactly who the fuck I was. The bitch was trying to be funny, but I wanted to see if she had the balls to tell me where she knew me from.
“No, that’s not it. You’re Quan’s baby mama, right?” she asked me.
I smirked. “You know the answer to that already, so why you asking me that?” I said, kind of annoyed.
“No need for the attitude, lil mama, I was just asking a question. You look like a smart woman, why would you come get your hair done by somebody who used to fuck your baby daddy?” she boldly asked me.
“I don’t believe that. He said he never fucked you before. He’s the one that gave me your number.” Right when it left my mouth, I regretted it because it wasn’t until now that I realized that this was some bullshit. Jaquan had straight played my ass.
Ma’kai laughed and then looked at me through the mirror. “And you believed him? How else would he know that I do hair if he ain’t never fuck me before! Of course, he was going to tell you he didn’t fuck me. That’s what niggas do, they fuckin’ lie!”
She had hit a nerve. I took the cape that from around me, and without thinking, I grabbed the hot comb from off of her counter and hit her across her face with that shit. I wasn’t even about to fight dirty with her, so I threw it on the floor and used my hands to get with her ass. She had me by at least three inches in height and about ten pounds in weight, but I wasn’t going to let that be a reason why I couldn’t beat her ass. These bitches in this salon probably couldn’t stand her ass because nobody in this bitch tried to pull me off of her.
I was taking my frustrations out on her because I was tired of this nigga fuckin’ embarrassing me. He looked me in my damn face and he fuckin’ lied to me like it was nothing. Like it was so easy. Then on top of that, he had me call this bitch for her to do my hair when all along he had fucked her! How disrespectful can these niggas be?
